9.14 A note to my readers: In 1998, I wrote an essay that I called "Why The World Trade Center Had To Explode." It was published in a volume titled "Architecture and Civilization" as "Written In Stone: Architectural Communication and Disintegration." There is a long passage that takes off from the attack on the WTC in 1993, and asserts - within a philosophical argument - that the WTC must be destroyed.
